CALL TO WORSHIP
Lord God, Creator of all; you created us to be your People; a people free to love and to serve you with all our minds, with all our hearts and with all our strength.
So we come to worship our God,
leaving behind all that binds us:
our doubts and our fears;
our darkness and our hopelessness.
Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of all: you came as a child, gathered into the loving embrace of a family. As an adult, you shared love, laughter and tears with those whom you knew as friends and the love of the Father with all who would receive it.
So we come to love and to honour you,
celebrating the companionship
of those you have called to be your disciples.
Gracious Spirit, Inspirer of all; brooding over us gathered here;
eternally breathing Life into all of creation; endlessly giving, endlessly comforting.
So we come to be still in your presence; to hear in the silence
the whisper of God breathing life into our souls;
deepening our unity in the very life of God.
CONFESSION
Holy God, you alone live in perfect relationship,
One God in three persons, mutual and loving,
We confess that our relationships are imperfect and
we are incomplete without you.
We are selfish and greedy.
We are anxious and resenting.
We feel the shame of our foolish behaviour and brokenness.
We have allowed sin to drive us apart from one another
and from you.
Forgive us and restore us,
Draw us close and bind us together in your mercy.
May we long for wholeness and peace,
May we strive toward gratitude and grace
In the saving name of your son, Jesus Christ,
By the working power of your Holy Spirit.
Amen.

PSALM 97
1 The Lord is king: let the earth rejoice;
let the multitude of the isles be glad.
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
and burns up his enemies on every side.
4 His lightnings lit up the world;
the earth saw it and trembled.
5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declared his righteousness,
and all the peoples have seen his glory.
9 For you, Lord, are most high over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.
10 The Lord loves those who hate evil;
he preserves the lives of his faithful
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light has sprung up for the righteous
and joy for the true of heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy name.
Acts 13:1-12
Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. 2 While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ 3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
On Cyprus
4 The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. 5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.
6 They travelled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, 7 who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. 9 Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, 10 ‘You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? 11 Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.’
Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. 12 When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.

CREED
We believe in God the Father,
from whom every family
in heaven and on earth is named.
We believe in God the Son,
who lives in our hearts through faith,
and fills us with his love.
We believe in God the Holy Spirit,
who strengthens us
with power from on high.
We believe in one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father.
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not.
As thou hast been thou forever wilt be.
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow;
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
DISMISSAL
To God the Father, who created us, and accepted us:
To God the Son, who loved us and freed us from our sins by his own blood:
To God the Holy Ghost, who spreads the love of God abroad in our hearts:
To the one true God be all love and all glory for time and for eternity. Amen.
